Hybrid Bycicle – child of Road and Mountain

History

  • The early 1970s, as a boom in recreational cycling caused manufacturers to concentrate on lightweight (23-30 lb.)
  • In the 1980s, U.K. cyclists began to shift from road-only bicycles to all-terrain models such as the mountain bike.
  • By 1990,  annual U.K. bicycle sales reached an all-time record of 2.8 million, almost all of them were mountain and road/sport models.
  • A different situation, however, in order to adapt all terrain with light weight and high speed, Hybrid was born.

HYBRID – child of Road and Mountain

Hybrids typically borrow the flat, straight handlebars and upright seating posture of a mountain bike, which many bicyclists find comfortable and intuitive. Hybrids also employ the lighter weight, thinner wheels and smooth tires of road bikes, allowing for greater speed and less exertion when riding on the road. Hybrid bikes often have places to mount racks and bags for transporting belongings, much like a touring bike.

ROADBIKE

The term ROAD BIKE or RACING BICYCLE

is used to describe bicycles built for traveling at speed on paved roads. You don’t need to be a racer to ride, jump up and enjoy the wind go through you hair.

Some SPECIFIC technical infomation:

  • The tires are narrow, high-pressure (>=100 psi or 689 kPa), and smooth to decrease rolling resistance.
  • They usually use derailleur gears, however, single-speed or fix-gear still exist.
  • The bicycle is of a lightweight construction.

There are various of ROAD BIKE exist:

  • Tour Bicycle: specific for go touring, capable of carry heavy load, heavy wheel and many of other plugin details
  • Hybrid Bicycle: Blend between Road Bike, Tour Bike, and Mountain Bike. Comfort and ease of use make them popular with novice cyclists, casual riders, commuter.
